As you might already be aware that the computing devices, including computers, tablets, and phones require an operating system (OS) to allow you to interact with them and use them. These operating systems vary in terms of their features, robustness, networking capabilities, hardware support and thereby, the market share. In terms of the market share in the current age of desktop computing, Microsoft has been the leading player ever since it launched its command-line based operating system, MS-DOS.

Success of MS-DOS was multiplied by its Windows operating system that brought the concept of a GUI (Graphic User Interface) based operating system to every home based PC user. Microsoft also introduced revolutionary mobile based operating systems, such as Windows CE, Pocket PC, and Windows Mobile series. The Windows Mobile operating system remained a choice of the high-end and tech-savvy users of PDAs (Personal Digital Assistant) and smartphones for quite a while as well. This was also the time of Palm OS for PDAs and Symbian OS for most of the normal mobile phones.

However, before these high-end wireless telephony devices started fitting well in the budget range of a normal mobile phone user, several prominent vendors started popping up in the market. Apple and Google have been the two most prevelant players that launched their own operating systems for mobile phones viz. iOS and Android respectively.

Now that owning these devices is not limited to people who earn too well or are in lucrative Biomedical Science Jobs, you can see almost everyone sporting a cool and stylish touchscreen or QWERTY-based smartphone. The bitter reality, however, is that other newer operating systems are better than Windows Mobile operating system due to their ease-of-use, nice user interfaces, robustness and have a great followership amongst the programmers as well. A recent video that I had seen on Click - a BBC program covering tech and anything related to it said that the gaming industry might be going cold and running out of imagination. That’s too strong for me, yes we have a sequel dependant market however they need to realise that those game didn’t arise from thin air, it took time and patients to make and create those games from scratch. There are tons of games that took of with unique stories and names.
Lets take Rage for example. Yes it might be the fallout combo with something else but it is new. Deus Ex is not what it used to be, bringing these games back to life doesn’t mean a copy and paste work takes place, players anticipate something new on the whole dimension. Pursuing sequels is not a bad idea at all but what I’m saying is that with each progressive sequel, there is a new story, new revamp of graphics, some new characters and therefore requires a whole lot of imagination. Creating the best sequel requires the best of imagination, more that creating a new game where one could say ’hey lets incorporate a character who is a thief and another guy who is trying to hunt him down, lets work it from there.’LA Noire seemed to be completely ignored. Hence to the good fellas at BBC - games got more creativity than movies, we need to remember that movie directors look to games for new ideas.

Reports on special computer mouse have always flooded the market for the last few years. But now the market has seen a new entry that is completely different from the traditional mouse that is available. This new entry is the Cellulon evoMouse, and it is really different.

It is true that many people would get confused by the news, but just think of it, how wonderful it is for you to make gestures with your hand and the mouse would do what you want, without you touching the mouse.

This mouse is thought to be the next generation of mousing technology as you use your fingers to do what you want. It is a groovy thought but even then it is not going to take over from the present day peripherals that people are used to.

For functioning, you have to keep the evoMouse on any flat surface and allow your fingers to act like a mouse. You can tap to click, make an uncanny motion to right click, and also use a mixture of fancy multi-touch gestures.

Though the idea is fascinating there are some difficulties for your fingers to duplicate with precision and functionality that are obtained by the use of the traditional mouse. The difficulty will further increase for those people who want to play games, make graphic or antivirus designs and do other multi tasks on the computer because the ability to select individual pixels and then click on them with the different buttons is much easier than the evoMouse.

However, the gadget would be handy for any casual use and other mobile applications. It would be more useful if the technology is integrated into laptops.
